Decision Support Tools for Smoke Management from Wildland Fires

Research Sponsored By: US Forest Service
Principal Investigator: Ernesto Alvarado
Project Description
This CRA project will support the development of stand-alone and web-based decision support tools for air resource advisory teams, fire incident managers, and public health specialists. These tools are developed by the USFS Airfire Team and are used by federal and state land management agencies to inform their decisions and evaluate trade-offs for prescribed fires and wildfires to reduce the impact of wildland fire smoke on air quality and public health. This CRA will also support transfer science-based information, strategies and tools for fire and smoke emissions management in public and communities to decision makers through training sessions, webinars methods, and other methods.
