Research Sponsored By: Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office
Principal Investigator: Bernard Bormann
Project Description
The University of Washington Olympic Natural Resources Center will provide facilitation of the North Pacific Coast Lead Entity citizens and technical committees whose goal is to maintain and improve ecosystem productivity and genetic diversity for all salmonid species in its area. To accomplish this goal the Lead Entity uses the best available science to set priorities, incorporates socio-political factors in decision-making, and helps provide direction and focus for the success of project sponsors. The lead entity area encompasses Water Resource Inventory Area 20, which is 935,250 acres of land and over 80 miles of coastline. Primary participants in the North Pacific Coast Lead Entity include Clallam and Jefferson counties, the City of Forks and the Hoh, Quileute and Makah Tribes.
