As a paleoecologist, I investigate how ecosystems and human societies adapt to climate change, with a special focus on severe and persistent drought. I have an interdisciplinary focus and a career-long interest in global climate change, especially with regard to how to best manage natural and human resources in an uncertain future. I speak frequently on climate change impacts and adaptation and, most recently, testified before the U.S. House of Representative Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming on long-term climate variability.
